In 2026, we are launching the Widnes Kuk Sool Sool Trail Series.

This is a series of 12 themed trail runs/walks taking place throughout the year, created to bring people together through movement, fresh air, and shared experience, while raising money for Halton Cancer Support Centre.

At its heart, this series is about charity, community, and social wellbeing. It is not about racing, times, or competition.

How this started

The idea came about after a conversation that many runners will recognise. A few of us took part in a trail event, paid a fair amount to enter, and came away feeling that something was missing. The running itself was fine, but the sense of value, care, and purpose around it was not what we had hoped for.

That led to a simple question. What if we stripped things back and focused on what really matters, and from that conversation, the Kuk Sool Trail Series was born.

What is the Kuk Sool Trail Series?

The Kuk Sool Trail Series is a collection of 12 organised trail outings taking place throughout 2026. Each event is designed to be inclusive, supportive, and welcoming to a wide range of abilities.

You can take part in one event or all twelve. You can run, jog, walk, hike, shuffle, or take it entirely at your own pace. These are group trail outings, not races, and there is no pressure to perform or compete. The emphasis is on participation, shared effort, and enjoying the experience together.

Who is it for?

This series is open to everyone. Kuk Sool students, parents and families, friends, members of the public, and anyone who would like to get involved are all welcome. You do not need to train in martial arts to take part. You simply need an interest in getting outside and being part of something positive.

All proceeds from the Kuk Sool Trail Series will be donated to Halton Cancer Support Centre.

Many of us have been affected directly or indirectly by cancer. This series is a way of turning something simple – walking, running, and spending time together outdoors – into something that can genuinely help others.

Rather than focusing on prizes, gimmicks, or spectacle, the emphasis is on maximising the positive impact we can make through participation, shared effort, and community support.

What can you expect?

Each event will have a planned route, shared in advance, with maps and GPX files where appropriate. Basic first aid will be available, and events will be run in a supportive, common-sense way.

These are not professionally marshalled races, and participants take part at their own risk. Everyone is encouraged to choose an appropriate pace, look after themselves, and withdraw if unwell.

More than anything, you can expect a welcoming atmosphere, encouragement from others, and a genuine sense of shared achievement.

How to get involved

If you are interested in taking part, or would simply like more information, please get in touch and we will send you the enrolment details. You are welcome to join us for one event, several, or the full series.

Sometimes the best ideas are the simple ones. Get outside. Move together. Support a good cause. Be part of a community.
